The wife and I went to Gatlinburg this weekend with my parents. Overall, we had a pretty good time. We played mini golf, shopped at the outlet mall (the wife spent a lot of money, but that's ok. it was her tax rebate), and saw Cirque du Chine, an excellent Chinese acrobatics show.

After a second long drive back on Monday afternoon/evening, I got to bed early to be ready for work Tuesday.

I haven't had much to do at work this week (it's only been 2 days, but the only thing I've really done is moved a bunch of laptops from the loading dock to our department).

Tomorrow is the last day of my 2nd week of work, and there have been some interesting developments. Like I said, I haven't really had that much to do, but there are other things. I heard back from the HR lady yesterday. She said that Personnel transmitted my info over to her, and she credited me with 30 months of service (2.5 years) and 141 hours of sick leave (nice!). I'm not on probation, so I don't have to worry about getting fired, but at the same time, I don't get a raise in 6 months. :(

The good thing is, if I got offered a new state position tomorrow making more money, I could take it with no questions asked. Or if I could make a good impression on my bosses, they could promote/reclass me immediately. I know that's not going to happen, but it's a nice thought.

In other news, tomorrow evening I change out from my first Invisalign tray to the second. I'm sure it'll be painful, but it's another step in a long process. I asked the orthodontist at my last appointment if I could get a digital copy of the animation of my teeth moving into position, but he says it won't work without their software, which I can't get. Oh well. I'll just say this: if they look as nice in real life as they did in the animation, I'm gonna be sexxxxxy. :)
